There's Nothing Embarrassing About Wanting Love
Sep 04, 2026There comes a point where it feels awkward and uncomfortable to admit out loud that you want love.
Like it’s a shameful secret you need to hide.
Because you’ve tried everything to find love and it hasn’t happened.
You’ve spent years putting yourself out there, swiping on apps, playing hard to get, trying to be the chill girl men want.
And the longer it goes on, the more exposed you feel.
Because if you’re still single after all of that… what does that say about you? What does that say about your chances of ever finding love?
So without really thinking about it, you begin to hide the fact that you REALLY want love.
You tell people you’re in no rush.
You say work’s been so busy you haven’t had time for love.
Meanwhile behind the scenes it’s men who keep things vague, situationships, anxiously checking your phone 1000 times a day for a two-word text and looooong periods without a prospect in sight.
And maybe you wouldn’t call this settling.
I didn’t either.
I just thought this was how things were for me.
But underneath all of this is that weird mix of wanting love SO badly, while also feeling shame or embarrassment that you want something that feels increasingly unlikely to happen for you.
Because it’s easier to pretend you don’t want something than to stand firmly behind it and risk the disappointment if it never actually happens.
And this is where we have a problem.
Because you can’t attract love while you’re also ashamed of wanting it.
That embarrassment has a much bigger effect on finding love than you realise.
